Experiential Exercise: What I Want To Achieve in the Next Six Months

With all the activities and responsibilities that fill a student’s schedule, most of us experience significant amounts of stress. We are caught up in a race to stay ahead that we don’t even notice how life passes by and how time changes us. Stress, no matter how we argue, is part of being a student. Yet, in our struggle to succeed, we often forget that success is not entirely achieving the goals you have set but success also means enjoying peace, health and love as you work along the way to achieve these goals.

Objectives

As activities and tasks get more demanding, one important objective I would like to achieve in the next six months, therefore, concerns with improving my health and physical well being while dissipating stress as I worked my way through these challenges, specifically, to gain at least 10 pounds of weight to normal level at the end of the six months.

Specific Actions

To achieve this objective, I intend to do the following actions, strategies and tactics:
  1. Eat the right foods and consume calories more than I spend
  2. Getting enough sleep even on busy nights.
  3. Taking naps at least 15 minutes a day to refresh and allow myself to relax.
  4. Visualizations to help me calm down and detach myself to what’s stressing me.
  5. Exercise more often to blow off steam and enjoy life more.
  6. Breathing exercise to have a quick way of calming myself down.
  7. Listen to music to relieve stress and relax while studying at home.
  8. Think positive and do positive self-talks and affirmation.

Resources
  1. Personal Efforts- Because the objective is personal, achieving such requires personal effort and commitment.
  2. Personal Time- To attain the purposes laid, I should give myself time to implement the specific actions I’ve enumerated.
  3. Parents and family- Especially for emotional and financial support
  4. Friends- Through motivation (and I hope financial support, too.)
  5. Classmates- Through designation of tasks, in the case of group activities.
  6. Teachers- That they may only require activities which are more meaningful and less demanding and time-consuming.
  7. The world-wide web- for download of inspirational music, videos and articles.
  8. Strangers-For nuggets of wisdom.

Implementation

To implement the specific actions previously specified, I intend to take the following steps:
  1. Schedule my activities and prioritize tasks giving each a deadline to allow time myself for other non-academic activities.
  2. Solve little problems as I encounter them to prevent stress to accumulate and give myself a sense of control.
  3. Have a change of attitude, treating setbacks as temporary problems and believing that I’ll achieve the goals I’ve set if I work through them.
  4. Delegate tasks to group mates to prevent myself from over working.
  5. I’ll treat myself well, eating healthy foods, doing exercise and getting enough sleep.
  6. I’ll try to relax more doing simple breathing exercise as often as necessary.
  7. I’ll try to keep organized along the way to avoid distractions, clutter and further stress.
