Lesson 2 - Polynomials

  • classify algebraic expressions which are polynomials according to degree and number of terms
  • add and subtract polynomials.
  • interpret the meaning of an where n is a positive integer.
  • derive the laws of exponents.
  • multiply and divide polynomials
  • use models and algebraic methods to find the: (i) product of two binomials; (ii) product of the sum and difference of two terms; (iii) square of a binomial; (iv) cube of a binomial; (v) product of a binomial and a trinomial.
  • solves problems involving special products

Lesson 3 - Linear Equations

  • differentiate between algebraic expressions and equations.
  • translate English sentences to mathematical sentences and vice versa.
  • illustrate linear equation in one variable
  • find the solution of linear equation in one variable
  • solve linear equations in one variable involving absolute value by: (i) graphing; and (ii) algebraic methods
  • solve problems involving equations in one variable

Lesson 4 - Linear Inequalities

  • differentiate between equations and inequalities
  • illustrate linear inequality in one variable
  • find the solution of linear inequality in one variable
  • solve linear inequality in one variable involving absolute value by: (i) graphing; and (ii) algebraic methods
  • solve problems involving inequalities in one variable
